CONSULTING · CASSINI LABS CASE STUDY
Northline Strategy Group
Margin-recovery and operating-model consulting for mid-market manufacturers.
Business problem
Consulting pipelines built around generic CRM stages ("lead," "opportunity," "deal") lose the one piece of information that actually predicts fit: what specific business trigger brought the account in. Without it, discovery calls re-litigate qualification that should have already happened, and engagement health has nowhere to live once the deal closes.
Users & stakeholders
- Prospective client executives (CEO, COO, CFO, founder) evaluating fit
- Redline principals running discovery and scoping
- Delivery consultants executing diagnostic and redesign phases
- Client executive sponsors tracking engagement health
Proposed system
CASSINI modeled the pipeline around business trigger and service line as first-class fields, not free-text notes, so qualification carries forward into scoping instead of being re-discovered on every call, and built a separate engagement-health view so delivery status is visible without a status-update meeting.
Public-facing experience
The public site organizes around three named service lines tied to specific triggers (margin compression, ownership transition, outgrown operating model) rather than a general "strategy consulting" pitch, so a visitor can self-qualify before booking a call.

Pipeline uses a kanban because deals move through discrete qualification stages that principals need to see at a glance. Active engagements use a table with a health column because sponsors and delivery leads need to scan phase and risk across every account at once, not drill into one deal at a time. Deliverables use a checklist because the operative question is binary: drafted or complete.

Engagement health (On Track / Needs Attention / At Risk) is modeled separately from phase, because a delivery can be in the correct phase and still be at risk — collapsing the two into one status would hide that a normal-looking phase is actually behind.
