Why CASSINI?

In 2020, I joined a Per Scholas software engineering cohort. Our professor gave our cohort the name Cassini.

At the time, it was simply the name of the group I was learning with. I had no idea I would eventually build a company under the same name. But it stayed with me.

The original Cassini-Huygens mission was an extraordinary feat of engineering and international collaboration. NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency built a mission that navigated enormous complexity, adapted over decades, and fundamentally changed what scientists understood about Saturn and its moons.

What I have always loved about that mission is not just what it discovered. It is how it got there: precision, curiosity, collaboration, and the ability to keep moving toward the objective even when the path was complicated.

My own path into technology was not linear, but it was never directionless. I began in medicine and healthcare, worked across real estate and financial environments, and spent years seeing how businesses, people, and systems behave when the stakes are real. I have worked in highly regulated industries where technology has to account for privacy, security, compliance, operations, and the people depending on it.

I taught myself to code because I wanted to do more than identify problems. I wanted to be able to build solutions to them.

By the time I entered software engineering formally, I was not starting over. I was bringing everything I had already learned about people, business, operations, and complex environments into a new discipline. That Cassini cohort became the point where those pieces converged.

When I later began taking on development work of my own, I needed a company through which to build it. I kept coming back to the name my professor had given our cohort. By then, Cassini represented a change in direction, a new way of solving problems, and the beginning of the work I wanted to keep doing.

So I called the company CASSINI.

Today, CASSINI Design Group is a woman-owned, SAM.gov-registered technology firm delivering software, systems integration, AI, modernization, web, and mobile solutions for businesses, institutions, and public-sector organizations.

Our team brings experience across highly regulated industries, including healthcare and financial services, with industry-recognized technical credentials across platforms including AWS and Salesforce.

We are often brought in when something has become complicated: systems do not talk to each other, technology is holding the organization back, a product needs to exist, a migration has to go right, or the problem does not fit neatly into an off-the-shelf solution.

I stay closely involved with our clients because I like to understand the problem deeply. That means learning how the organization actually works, what is getting in the way, what matters most, and then working with our development team to determine the right solution.

Not the most expensive solution.

Not the most technical solution.

The best solution for the problem.

Sometimes that means a sophisticated custom platform. Sometimes it means connecting systems that should already be talking. Sometimes the right answer is much simpler than expected. That judgment is part of the work.

Our developers bring the architecture, engineering, integrations, infrastructure, and applications we design together to life. I lead client relationships and help shape technical and product direction so the work stays aligned with the real problem we were hired to solve.

And when the work is done, our clients should understand what they have, control it, and own it.

The original Cassini mission navigated the unknown and returned something extraordinary from it.

Our mission is closer to home: help organizations navigate technical complexity, find the right path forward, and build the technology that gets them there.
